SERVING THE DRYCLEANING INDUSTRY FOR OVER 60 YEARS

Hallak celebrates its 60th anniversary

Hallak Cleaners, the family-owned and operated couture drycleaner, is celebrating its 60th anniversary this year.

Founded by the late Joseph Hallak, Sr., Hallak Cleaners began with one man’s vision. Today, that legacy continues through the Hallak family. Brothers John-Claude and Joseph Hallak, Jr. oversee the company’s retail locations and production operation, while their brother Robert Hallak brings his specialized expertise in interior, suede and leather care.

Their involvement reflects one of Hallak’s defining qualities: expertise is personal. The brothers remain closely connected to the day-to-day operation of the business and to the people who entrust Hallak with their clothing and textiles.

Hallak’s professional affiliations and continuing education are an important part of that understanding. The company is a member of the National Cleaners Association (NCA), the Drycleaning and Laundry Institute (DLI), and the Association of Wedding Gown Specialists (AWGS), and America's Best Cleaners, among others.

The Hallak story began in 1955, when Joseph Hallak, Sr. opened Eiffel Cleaners in East Orange, NJ. In 1966, he opened Hallak Cleaners on Second Avenue in Manhattan, establishing the business that would become the foundation of the Hallak family legacy.

Hallak continued to expand its expertise and capabilities throughout the following decades, including the establishment of a 5,000-square-foot production plant in Bergen County in 1983, the introduction of pickup and delivery service, and the opening of a new 12,000-square-foot state-of-the-art facility in 1994 dedicated to Joseph Hallak, Sr.
