SERVING THE DRYCLEANING INDUSTRY FOR OVER 60 YEARS

SCCA hosts April meeting

The Southern California Cleaners Association (SCCA) met recently to listen to a panel of drycleaners with over 120 years experience in the industry discuss how they have continued to survive and pivot over the years.

The panel consisted of Jacob Jahn (Pico Cleaners, Los Angeles), David Suber (Perfect Cleaners, Los Angeles), Shawn Basseri (Steamer Cleaners, Sherman Oaks), and Mike Fahar (United Fabricare, Compton).

Although each panel member’s history was different, they all confirmed that hard work and a willing to change are the keys to survival. The problems continue to be the same over the years, as well, such as the rising costs of doing business and a lack of an employee pool.

When asked about where they see the drycleaning industry in five years, the consensus was that drycleaning is here to say, however, fewer cleaners and more attention to the customers’ needs will be imperative. For more information, visit www.socalcleaners.org.
